Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable, professional, and safety-focused Ad-Hoc Mobile Unit 5th Wheel Trailer Driver with a valid CDL. In addition to safe transportation and setup of a specialized mobile unit, this role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to ensure positive, professional interactions with stakeholders during mobile unit drop-off and pick-up.
This position is ideal for an experienced CDL driver who can serve as a professional representative of the organization while operating with flexibility and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate a CDL-required vehicle towing a 5th wheel trailer/mobile unit
Transport the mobile unit to and from assigned deployment locations
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip DOT inspections of vehicle and trailer
Secure, position, level, and stabilize the mobile unit upon arrival
Assist with basic setup and breakdown of the mobile unit as needed
Serve as a professional point of contact at drop-off and pick-up, communicating clearly with site staff, partners, and internal teams
Build and maintain positive working relationships through courteous, responsive, and solution-oriented interactions
Communicate arrival times, placement needs, and any site concerns effectively
Maintain accurate trip logs and inspection documentation
Report mechanical issues, safety concerns, or incidents promptly
Comply with all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company policies
Schedule Expectations
Ad-hoc / on-call availability (no guaranteed hours)
Assignments may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or overnight travel
Advance notice is typically provided; flexibility and responsiveness are essential
Required Qualifications
Valid CDL (Class A preferred) with appropriate endorsements, if applicable
Proven experience towing and maneuvering 5th wheel trailers
Clean driving record and ability to meet DOT qualification standards
Strong understanding of DOT compliance and safety regulations
Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
Ability to interact professionally with a variety of stakeholders at deployment sites
Ability to perform light physical tasks associated with setup (leveling, stabilizing, securing equipment)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with mobile units, RVs, healthcare units, or specialty trailers
Experience working in customer-facing or site-coordination roles
Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to climb stairs, bend, crouch, and lift up to approximately 50 lbs
Ability to work safely outdoors in varying weather conditions
Pay: $150 to $250 per day
Compensation
